Altura Climbing Shoe

Butora built the Tight Fit Altura Climbing Shoe for long days on big walls where you'll come across every style of climbing except maybe overhanging pitches. Its low asymmetry and flat profile assure comfort when you're jamming, smearing, and edging all day. The upper boasts a hydrovelour split leather that stretches to conform to your foot shape, while the odor-resistant organic hemp lining reduces stretching so you don't have a baggy pair of boots by the time your reach the summit.

Just like any crack climbing shoe, the Altura has a padded tongue and mesh lining to protect your forefoot from jagged rocks inside the crack. The moisture-wicking split leather footbed feels particularly wonderful in warmer weather, and the midsole offers moderate stiffness so you can edge, smear, and slab up tricky sections with supportive stability. The Butora rubber sole has a sharp edge for the occasional face move, and it's soft enough for you to get enough contact on slabs.

Go to Trad Shoe

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I had the low version of these for a while and really liked them. I wanted something a little more comfy for multi pitch routes and decided to pick up a slightly bigger pair of these. Even with the extra room I can climb just as hard in these as I can the lows and my feet are no longer suffering on pitch 3. I've recently started crack climbing and these are a game changer for that. The extra support in the heal had been huge for overcoming the pain that comes with learning foot jams.

Quality stiff trad shoe-

Familiarity:

Size Bought:
9.5

***6 month update- the Altura has held up well. BUT, maybe I?m just a light climber but the break in period was long. They are still stiff and not at all sensitive on smears/edges. I wear a 42 in Miura and love that shoe more than any other. These jam really well but don?t edge or face climb well at all for me. I feel clunky in them even 6 months later. I bought a 9.5 and probably could?ve gone 1/2 size down. I plan to re sole these and expect them to give a little at that point, but all in all they?re a quality stiff trad shoe.
